Paediatric Osteopathy

Osteopathic care for babies, infants and children, provided by Timothy Taylor.

Tim has a special interest in paediatric osteopathy, working with families to support their baby or child’s health and development through gentle, hands-on assessment and treatment.

WHAT IS PAEDIATRIC OSTEOPATHY?

Paediatric osteopathy applies the same gentle, hands-on osteopathic approach used with adults, adapted specifically for the developing bodies of babies and children. Treatment involves gentle touch and movement techniques suited to a baby or child’s age and stage of development.

Osteopaths take a whole-body approach, considering how different areas of the body may be affecting a baby or child’s comfort and movement.

COMMON CONCERNS PARENTS BRING TO US

Families often seek paediatric osteopathic assessment for a range of concerns, including:

  • Feeding difficulties
  • Digestive concerns such as colic and constipation
  • Unsettled or difficult-to-soothe babies
  • Sleep disturbances
  • Head shape concerns, including plagiocephaly and brachycephaly
  • Torticollis (head tilt or preference)
  • General wellbeing checks following birth

As with all osteopathic treatment, individual results vary, and a thorough assessment is the first step in determining whether osteopathic care may be appropriate for your child.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT YOUR BABY OR CHILD’S FIRST APPOINTMENT

Your first appointment will include a thorough history and gentle physical assessment appropriate to your child’s age. Tim will discuss what he finds and, if osteopathic treatment is recommended, explain what this involves before proceeding. Sessions are gentle, and techniques are adapted specifically for babies and children.
